Upcoming WHOIS (RDDS) changes in regards to Abuse contacts

1 February 2017 ICANN announced changes in regards of the WHOIS Registration Data Directory Services Requirements. See the original text here : https://www.icann.org/news/announcement-2-2017-02-01-en

The relevant part which concerns you is only about the “Registry Registration Data Directory Services Consistent Labeling and Display Policy”. Details from ICANN can be found here: https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/rdds-labeling-policy-2017-02-01-en

The required changes only affect the public WHOIS (RDDS) and the .CAM Registry webinterface. There will be no changes to the EPP interface or the Domain Life Cycle. The effective date for this to be launched in production is : 1 August 2017

.CAM Registry will implement the 2 mandatory fields “Registrar Abuse Contact Email” and “Registrar Abuse Contact Phone”. In order to give the registrars the possibility to manage this information by themselves we will extend the webinterface with new fields so the additional data can be provided

The updated webinterface which allows registrars to enter the additional mandatory information, will be launched in the OT&E and Production system on May 3rd 2017 08:00 UTC

Registrars must have added this information no later than July 31st 2017.

As soon as registrars provide the Abuse contact information the data will already be shown in the WHOIS (RDDS) even before August 1st 2017.

We will send out an additional mail with more details about where the new fields can be found for managing the additional data before May 3rd.
